Year 10 Community Activities
It has been a busy start to Term 2 with a number of Year 10 students involved in a variety of exciting activities.
Two members of the Year 10 Leadership Team, Laura Nettleton and Tyler Parker, had the opportunity to attend the Student Leadership Roundtable Series with the Federal Member for Deakin, Mr Michael Sukkar. Laura and Tyler, together with students from other secondary schools in the electorate, discussed issues of importance to teenagers over lunch with Mr Sukkar (pictured above).
Another group of Year 10 students is taking part in the Student Wellbeing Action Team (SWAT) Program run by Maroondah City Council. The four students are Megan Sebire, Ryan Boyce, Peter Brewer and Chee Juan (CJ ) Ting. Other schools involved include Aquinas College, Tintern GS, Ringwood SC, Luther College, Heathmont SC, Melba SC and Swinburne TAFE. Following a one-day summit, Megan, Ryan, CJ and Peter have attended a three day camp this week. The focus was to explore student wellbeing, identifying a wellbeing action plan for Norwood.
It is envisaged that this plan will be beneficial to Norwood students as it will have been devised and managed by the students. Megan, Ryan, CJ and Peter will have the help of a youth worker from the City of Maroondah. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to lead, devise and manage a program of importance to them.
