House Athletics Carnival
The House Athletics Carnival was held on Monday this week. This is earlier in the year than prior carnivals and it was pleasing to run it in such good weather. It was lovely using the new facilities at Proclamation Park and we were lucky enough to be the first group to hire the venue since the renovation.
It was a very tight schedule of events to fit into the day as all age groups competed in each event. There were also a number of novelty events running which added extra enjoyment to the program.
There was a great attendance by all year levels of students and an excellent level of participation in events. The atmosphere was really positive and there was a happy vibe amongst the crowd. The music, sausage sizzle and food vans also added a little extra to the day. Once again, the Year 12 students were beautifully dressed in costumes and many others were representing their houses well by wearing their house colours.
Congratulations go to all students who participated in the program. An extra congratulation goes to students who placed in their events and demonstrated an excellent athletic ability. There were so many outstanding athletic performances and we even had a number of broken records. One of the records had been held since 1980!
It was a close race in the overall house points tally throughout the day, but Maroondah was able to come away with another win. That is two wins for Maroondah House this year. In order for another house to stop them from taking out all three carnivals for the year I encourage students to practice their 5km running for Cross Country which will be held on Thursday, 4 May.
