District Level Sporting Success

Congratulations to the Year 7/8 Junior Girls’ Football Team on winning the District Championship. The girls played three games on the day and won on all occasions. The first game was a win against Melba College (80 – 0) while Game 2 was against a determined Mooroolbark College and the scores were very even until half time. Then the girls really lifted and came home strongly to win comfortably, 37 -13.

The third and deciding game was against a very strong Ringwood College team who were also undefeated. In the last quarter Norwood was only up by three points. Many positional changes were made yet the girls adapted well and should be proud of their strong finish. The final score was 31 – 22, reflecting a great, closely fought game played in good spirit with high skill levels from both teams.

The girls were outstanding all day and deserved the success; it was a great team effort. They have made Mr Wilson so proud to advance to the next level. Special thanks to Emily’s Dad Stuart, who came along and co – coached on the day. Thanks to Mr Wilson and Mr Jag for giving me the wonderful opportunity to participate.

The sun was shining at Pinks Reserve last Thursday for the Maroondah Division Boys’ Netball Tournament. Congratulations to our nine superstar players who all put in 100% and demonstrated integrity and sportsmanship all day long. Our ‘sensational shooters’ Brent Gaudion and Tim O’Brien were on fire in the goal circle and were supported by our ‘marvelous mid-court’ consisting of Daniel Frost, Flynn Guerin, Matthew Low, Lachlan Lynch and Matt Bui, who moved the ball effortlessly down the court. Our ‘defensive duo’ Brent Gordon and Tyler Hodge were absolute dynamite, rebounding, intercepting and turning over the ball.

We won both our games throughout the day and will now progress through to the Eastern Metropolitan Region Finals in Term 3. Results can be found below.

Game 1: Norwood (22) defeated Ringwood ‘B’ (4)

Game 2: Norwood (15) defeated Ringwood ‘A’ (6)
