ANZAC Commemorations were held during the last week of April. Senior School and Junior School ANZAC Assemblies were run prior to ANZAC Day and we were privileged to have Major Geoff Kelly and Sgt Robyn East as our Defence Force representatives. Both Major Kelly and Sgt East have had overseas postings – some with Special Operations and covering such diverse arenas as Indonesia, Solomon Islands, East Timor and Afghanistan. Their addresses were thought provoking and insightful and added considerably to the tenor of our commemorations.
Our students, in both Sub-Schools, were outstanding in the understanding they showed for the importance of the commemoration and for the respectful manner in which they conducted themselves. Thank you to College Captains, Jaymie Burgess and Lachlan MacDonald, and Junior School Leaders Ellie Campbell and Matthew Sandison who spoke so well. Thanks also to Ebony Brice and Samuel Ball (wreath laying) and Maddie Marshall and Justin Baker (flag lowering/raising). This was the first occasion on which the College has run an ANZAC Commemoration Assembly but it will now be an annual event.
